Ayia Napa Sea Caves are a spectacularly natural landmark near Ayia Napa, on Cape Greco, in Cyprus. It’s one of our favourite attractions in this wonderful, exotic resort.
Here’s why…
I remember the first time we visited the sea caves…absolutely stunning!
I’ll never forget the feeling I had when I first saw this spectacular natural landmark! There were people jumping off the cliffs, some were snorkelling, others were diving in off the rocks lower down. The sea was crystal-clear, blue, calm, many people were taking pictures of this amazing scene, or simply watching in awe as “The crazies” enjoyed jumping off the high cliffs…!! :-)
What a wonderful experience to jump from the cliff into the sea! :-) What a feeling!!!... Only for the brave or fool hardy…!!
…And that’s why the sea caves in Ayia Napa are a famous landmark...!! Definitely one of our favourites in the Famagusta district!
Besides, the sea caves are located in the Cape Greco National Forest Park
which is a wonderful park where you can find naturally occurring bridges, plus
other naturally occurring features like the “Love Bridge” (Monachus Monachus
Arch), the “Kamara tou Koraka” (Crow’s Arch), the “Ayioi” (Saint), the “Anargyroi
Chapel”, the “Cyclops” cave, other sea caves, plus other unique “wonders of
nature”. See if you can send us some pictures of your favourites…!! :-)

Quick links:
Legend has it, the pirates used to stash their “Booty” in these caves, may be “Captain Jack Sparrow” was here…!! :-)
We should point out that the sea caves extend for up to 80 meters underground…and they are only partially submerged at low tide…!!
You can explore the sea caves by water, or on “foot” (DANGER: – ONLY – when the tide is LOW) – Make sure you wear appropriate footwear on the slippery rocks, and be “extremely aware” of approaching “High Tides”.
However, quite a few of these sea caves can only be reached from the sea, through Snorkelling, Kayaking, Paddle boarding, or similar. Diving is also another way to explore these wonderful caves, but with care obviously.
So, put your favourite “Swim suit” or “Budgy smugglers” on, and get ready to jump into the crystal-clear blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea!!
By the way, the sea caves in Cape Greco in Ayia Napa are a famous spot for taking “Selfies”…!! So, if you love taking those, take your phone with you…You will take some amazing pictures from the “Bowels of the Earth”…, or during sunset, when the changing colours bounce off the beautiful Mediterranean Sea on to the rocks behind, how fantastic…!!
“Spoiler Alert” take plenty of water, sun block, and a hat/umbrella. There are no kiosks, shops, or much shade where the sea caves are located.
You can get to the area where the sea caves are located by vehicle (car, scooter, quad, etc) or by bus.
Happy exploring! Stay safe around water…!! :-)
...And that's the end of our article on the “Ayia Napa Sea Caves”. We wish you the best holiday adventure in this exotic resort of Ayia Napa. Come back soon we miss you already…!! :-)
