The Newer Area: Kakopetria, Nicosia, Cyprus
Kakopetria, Nicosia District, CyprusKakopetria is located in the Solea Valley in the Nicosia district (Nicosia = Lefkosia in Greek).
It lies on the northern foothills of the Troodos Mountains and is the highest village in the Solea Valley, at an altitude of 667 metres.
The drive there is part of the experience – you’ll pass through lush green landscapes and scenic mountain routes. Nature at its best!

There are three main stories behind the name:
Kakopetria has about 1300 permanent residents – friendly and welcoming locals known for their warm hospitality.
The Kargotis and Garillis rivers meet in Kakopetria to form the Klarios river, which flows through the Solea Valley and into Morphou Bay.
